How to Update Android Firmware

Here you can easily learn How to Update Android Firmware.

Update Via System Updates in Settings

Updating the firmware on Android devices is typically done through the device’s built-in software update feature.

We can provide you with a general guide on how to update the firmware on Android devices.

  1. Connect to Wi-Fi: Ensure that your Android device is connected to a Wi-Fi network. Firmware updates can be large, and using Wi-Fi ensures a stable and fast connection for the download.
  2. Backup Your Data (Optional but Recommended): It’s a good practice to back up your important data before performing any firmware update to prevent data loss in case anything goes wrong during the update process.
  3. Check for Updates: Open the “Settings” app on your Android device and scroll down to find the “System” section. Tap on “System Updates” or a similar option, depending on your device’s version of OxygenOS.
  4. Check for Updates: Tap on the “Check for updates” button. Your device will connect to Android servers to see if there’s a newer firmware version available.
  5. Download and Install: If an update is available, your device will prompt you to download and install it. Tap on the update notification to begin the process.
  6. Install Update: The update will be downloaded to your device. Once the download is complete, you’ll be prompted to install the update. Tap on “Install” and your device will restart to apply the update.
  7. Wait for Installation: Your Android device will automatically install the update. During this process, your device may restart several times. Do not turn off your device during the update.
  8. Complete Setup: After the update is installed, your device will boot up with the new firmware version. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Update via Local Upgrade in Settings

However, Android provides an alternative method using their “Local Upgrade” feature, which allows you to manually install an update using a downloaded package.

To use this method:

  1. Download the latest firmware package for your specific device model.
  2. Move the downloaded package to your device’s internal storage.
  3. Go to “Settings” > “System” > “Software Update.”
  4. Tap the settings icon (three dots) in the upper right corner and select “Local upgrade.”
  5. Choose the downloaded firmware package and start the upgrade process.

Always back up your important data before performing a firmware update, just in case anything goes wrong during the process.
